The two enjoyed a scrumptious dinner, catered by Lake Windsor Country Club, and a cake beautifully decorated to coordinated with florals from Hy-vee Cakes, Catering & Floral. HOW DID YOU MEET? We met through an internship that we had in college.
HOW DID YOU KNOW YOU HAD FOUND “THE ONE”? I knew I found the one when I realized he was my best friend. I wanted him around for everything!
TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: He proposed to me on a regular Thursday night because he knew I wanted to be caught off guard. We went out for ice cream at the place where we went on the first day we moved here to Sun Prairie, WI.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR DRESS: I found my Dress at Brandi’s Bridal with my sister and mother, we all knew instantly that it was the one!
WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING COLOR PALETTE? Light grey, peach, navy, and ivory.
WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION/DESIGN CONCEPT FOR YOUR OVERALL CEREMONY AND RECEPTION DECOR? I wanted my wedding to have a simple, soft and springy feel. I also wanted to incorporate the city of Madison with my ceremony by having it on the roof of the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art downtown Madison. The reception was very special for us because it was held at Lake Windsor Country Club; this is where my sister got married as well as where I and my husband both work part-time.
DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: My flowers were a mix of soft colors with a few pops of bright peach.
WERE THERE ANY PERSONAL TOUCHES OR DIY ELEMENTS? I made my own programs and centerpiece items.
DID YOU USE ANY SPECIALTY CHAIRS, LINENS, CHARGERS, GLASSWARE OR DINNERWARE? We ordered our own linens for tables online.
TELL US ABOUT THE FOOD, DESSERT, AND ANY SPECIALTY BEVERAGES ON THE MENU: Food was all done by Lake Windsor Country Club, we had Chicken and Pork. For dessert, we ordered our cake through Hy-Vee, they were able to put flowers on it that matched those in my Bouquet, and the cake tasted amazing! For beverages, we had a cocktail hour and then a cash bar as well as we purchased two different kegs of beer through Lake Windsor that our guests could enjoy through the night.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT FROM YOUR WEDDING? I loved every moment of my wedding; we really made it personal for us, and I wouldn’t change anything about it!
TELL US ABOUT YOUR HONEYMOON PLANS: For our honeymoon, we went to Boston and then stayed a few nights in Chicago as well.
ANY WEDDING PLANNING REGRETS OR SOMETHING YOU WOULD DO DIFFERENTLY? I was not one to procrastinate, I think this really helped me, I planned out each step to my wedding planning and made sure nothing was forgotten. I wouldn’t change a thing about my wedding day!
IS THERE ANY ADVICE YOU’D GIVE TO OTHER COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Truly enjoy the wedding planning process and make sure you are creating the experience that is most important to the 2 of you. A lot of people will have opinions about your wedding, but it is essential to make decisions together. Also, remember that your wedding day goes by so quickly, so take lots of pictures and make sure to take mental notes of each part of your day!
WHAT DOES LIFE LOOK LIKE AFTER THE WEDDING? So far, we fall in love with each other more and more every day. We are both working full time and making plans for our future family.
