WEDDING DATE:  04/22/17

HOW DID YOU MEET?  My best friend worked with Matt’s sister and they tried to introduce us, but the timing didn’t work out. About a year later, we met on Tinder (of all places!) – he was my first match. We met for a beer at Great Dane and we were sort of inseparable from that point. Our third date was my company holiday party!

HOW DID YOU KNOW HE WAS “THE ONE”? I hadn’t dated anyone seriously since my daughter was born. I knew if I ever introduced someone to her, I would have to be really sure about the person. I knew after seeing him with Ainsley for the first time that he’d be the one to complete our family.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: He had planned a “Paint Night” and ice skating proposal, neither of which were successful. I’m difficult to make plans with! After a long weekend of home improvement projects, we went out for dinner and wine. He had the ring and brought it with him without a plan, and after dinner, he proposed in the parking lot. I love that it was spontaneous and unexpected!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR DRESS: I really didn’t want to limit myself by having any preconceived ideas of what my “perfect dress” looked like, but I also knew that I wanted something simple. As I started trying on gowns, I realized lace and beading with layered fabric didn’t feel like me. The dress I chose was the first crepe dress I tried and we all knew it was the one. I loved the simplistic form, but also the elegance of the open, draping cowl back and long train.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: I wanted the floral to really solidify the neutral color palette but wanted different types of succulents and light pink, airy flowers to pull out the muted pops of color we wanted to incorporate throughout. We used garden roses, white hydrangeas, jasmine vine, white astilbe, dusty miller, gray succulents, gray brunia and seeded eucalyptus in the bridal bouquets and white ranunculus and gray foliage for the boutonnieres. The mixed metallic vessels brought back the industrial elements of the venue.

WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING COLOR PALETTE? I wanted a neutral color palette but wanted little pops of muted colors. We started with our floral- I loved the idea of incorporating dusty greens in the succulents and light pink flowers in the bouquet. I wanted the bridesmaid dresses to compliment the floral, and in the spirit of keeping things simple, I asked the bridesmaids to choose their own floor-length dresses that suited their styles, body-types, and budgets – any color ranging from champagne to a darker rose pink. Matt chose the dusty navy suits with the light blue ties and I think they worked well with the b
lush tones and succulent accents.

DID YOU USE ANY SPECIALTY CHAIRS, TABLES, LINENS OR DINNERWARE? We used ivory table linens to match the draping ivory fabric throughout the venue, navy linen napkins, gold chargers and a sprig of greenery for the table settings.

WERE THERE ANY PERSONAL TOUCHES OR DIY ELEMENTS? Matt is really handy and wanted to contribute with DIY touches. He created the copper wire table numbers and the rustic succulent favor boxes from scrap wood.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY? The favorite memory for both of us was actually when Errin, our photographer, pulled us away from dinner to do photos during the “golden hour”. I think we both felt guilty leaving guests, but it was the first time during the day that we could enjoy each other and really take it all in – away from guests, after the nerves settled, just me and him. We had great advice from a friend to make sure we found that time together away from everyone else that evening, and I’d give the same advice to anyone else with an upcoming wedding!
