About Us
The Bur Oak is a century-old building on Madison’s east side that now functions as one of the city’s most beloved music venues and event spaces. An exposed barrel-vaulted roof, brick walls, hand-laid tile, reclaimed wood accents, and a poured concrete bar give the space a layered, lived-in warmth. The capacity holds 130 guests for a ceremony or reception, which makes it ideal for couples who want something intimate without sacrificing atmosphere. The venue includes a large stage, green room, and professional sound and lighting system, so bands and DJs work beautifully in this space.
We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue for our wedding and reception than The Bur Oak! Its spacious yet intimate setting, combined with its prime location and affordability, made it an ideal choice. The cozy atmosphere required minimal decoration, allowing us to focus on what truly mattered. The venue staff were exceptional, and Jenny, in particular, was instrumental in bringing our vision to life. Her dedication and attention to detail ensured that our day was seamless and unforgettable.
