Vinyl, Velvet, & Vows: Rockstar Wedding Inspiration at the Historic Majestic Theatre

Step into the spotlight with this rockstar-inspired wedding editorial at Madison’s iconic Majestic Theatre. Bold black, crisp white, and fiery red set the tone for a dramatic, high-energy celebration filled with unforgettable details, including daring floral installations, vinyl records, musical instruments, and more.

In addition to coordination, design, florals, & rentals by Melody Rose Designs, this styled shoot was brought to life by LK Bridal Studio, Food & Cake Wedding Films, Brandi’s Bridal Galleria, Etc., DuBois Formalwear, The Bridal Beauty Team, Craig’s Cake Shop, Sunny Celebrations, Lily’s Magical Treats, and Event Essentials.

Food & Cake Wedding Films and LK Bridal Studio captured dark, dramatic spaces inside the venue and natural light for outdoor shots. Watch Food & Cake Wedding Films video here, then scroll for the photos by LK Bridal Studio!

In addition to photography, LK Bridal Studio also designed the stationery & signage pieces for the day. The printed pieces honored the refined color palette, using only black, white, and red. LK Bridal Studio drew inspiration from concert tickets
and band posters for the entire invitation suite, beginning with a vertical, tri-fold invitation. Instead of imagery, they focused on clean, bold typography with designs full of contrast.

While the pieces largely included widely kerned sans-serif fonts, a script font was added to the envelope and accented throughout the signage. Other printed pieces included ticket name cards, a guitar-pick seating chart, a menu, merch signage, snack signage, drink and tattoo bar signs, announcement posters, and a dessert sign. LK Bridal Studio also produced vinyl graphics installed on a drum and a record. In addition, LK Bridal Studio designed and produced standout merch items, bringing an authentic concert vibe to the day.

The historic Majestic Theatre first opened in 1906, and has been a beloved fixture in the Madison community ever since. The venue has undergone numerous renovations over the years, but still holds over a century of stories and memories, from movies to concerts and more. Now serving as the longest operating theatre in the city, the Majestic is the perfect venue for couples looking for a celebration that is fun and untraditional, but still glamorous.

On the stage and beneath saturated red lights, the ceremony aisle was guided by velvet and gold stanchion ropes, florals, and candles. Florist Melody Rose Designs crafted a striking and unique backdrop, composed of an asymmetrical broken arch. They used a combination of fabrics, grasses, florals, and textures for a lush, artistic design that stood out against the lighting equipment, stage curtains, and hanging records.

Brandi’s Bridal Galleria, Etc. selected two bridal gowns for this shoot. The ceremony dress was made for the stage, dripping in sparkles from the shoulder straps to the train. The fit-and-flare silhouette blended classic with modern glam, featuring a square neckline and edgy illusion cutouts on the bodice. Accessories included a sparkling headband and coordinating star earrings.

The Bridal Beauty Team chose a makeup palette that was edgy, but not overpowering. The bride had a smoky eye, sculptured brow, rouged cheeks, and red lip. Her hair was curled, lightly teased, and secured into a low ponytail that left room for movement, especially when pulled over her shoulder. Loose strands also romantically framed her face.

When it came to the groom, DuBois Formalwear selected a bold red suit coat with black detailing on the lapel and pockets. They completed the look with a black vest, black pants, a white undershirt, and a classic black bowtie.

The bouquets, composed of red roses, were wrapped in tulle and included a microphone with electrical cord. The groom and best man wore coordinating floral lapel boutonnieres with a miniature silver microphone and secured with a red ribbon.

Melody Rose Designs repurposed the ceremony backdrop at the reception setup, with more rentals provided by both Melody Rose Rentals & Decor and Event Essentials. The design started with a sweetheart table on the stage, covered with a red tablecloth, with record chargers, crystal plates, silky linens, and crystal glassware. An assortment of props and florals surrounded the sweetheart table, including a snare drum with custom vinyl, amplifiers, cymbals, and other music equipment.

On the floor below, three round tables were decorated and individually lit for guests. These tables had similar plating and glassware, but also included guitar centerpieces and table numbers.

It wouldn’t be a rockstar wedding without merch–or a theatre without popcorn! The merch wall went all out with custom-designed t-shirts, guitar picks, hats, and can koozies, giving guests the full concert-swag experience. A temporary tattoo station added an incredible interactive vibe for guests. And of course, Lily’s Magical Treats served up fresh popcorn–the tempting popping could be heard and smelled throughout the venue, and it tasted just as delicious as it looked.

Multiple vendors contributed to the dessert table. Craig’s Cake Shop brought the centerpiece, a four-tier ombre red and black cake. They also provided an assortment of Afterparty Cake Shooters–dessert-cups with a kick–that were adorned with individual mini-bottle spirits. Also on the dessert table were printed and frosted sugar cookies from Sunny Celebrations, and guitar-shaped lollipops from Lily’s Magical Treats.

Outside, posters and a custom marquee decorated the Majestic Theatre, showcasing the couple’s wedding. The bride’s second look, a bit more relaxed, was a sheath gown with a deep-v neckline adorned with three white bows. For the second-look photos, the bride also wore a leather jacket, red wedges, and sunglasses. The groom changed out his suit coat and vest in favor of a leather jacket and dark sunglasses.
