Rachel and Geoff got engaged and decided to tie the knot in the city where they met while attending UW-Madison. Their wedding fete' has a minimalist, simple design approach of neutral color palettes to keep the focus on a few, statement details that take center stage - fresh springtime blooms and in-season flowering branches from Madison wedding florist, Daffodil Parker, sleek marble chargers, and gray napkin linens from Event Essentials that all tied in seamlessly with the Grand Ballroom at the Edgewater. So cozy up and get lost in this sea of pretty images from East Elm Photography in this elegant affair.

WEDDING DATE: 05/27/2018

HOW DID YOU MEET? Senior year of college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

HOW DID YOU KNOW HE WAS "THE ONE"? After our first holiday season together, when I met Geoff's friends and family and he met mine, I knew this was it. Despite coming from two completely different backgrounds, we both seamlessly fit into each other's lives.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: Last winter, Geoff and I were visiting Madison and went to dinner at Estrellon. After dinner, we were walking next to the capitol and he proposed right on the steps. He wanted to propose in the city where our relationship started. We then met a few of our friends out to celebrate and Geoff surprised me by booking a room at The Edgewater, which would later be our wedding venue.

WERE THERE ANY PERSONAL TOUCHES? We included memory charms on my bouquet with pictures of loved ones that we'd lost, so they would still be with us in spirit for our wedding day.

TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR DRESS: I went dress shopping with my mom and mother-in-law in Chicago. I knew I wanted a simple, fitted bottom and a top with contrasting patterns or textures. It was hard to find something that fit that description, but after trying on about 15 dresses, I spotted a dress from across the store and asked to try it on. It was different than anything else I'd seen and once I put it on, I knew it was the one.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: We created a mix of springtime blooms including peonies and ranunculus with greenery for the ceremony and reception spaces. For our head table, we featured two big vases of blooming branches to tie the spring theme together.

WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING COLOR PALETTE? White, green, pale pink and gray.

DID YOU USE ANY SPECIALTY TABLES, CHAIRS, LINENS OR DINNERWARE? We used marble chargers and light gray napkins.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT FROM YOUR WEDDING? It's hard to pick just one, but the grand march was a special moment. It was so incredible to walk into a room with all of our friends and loved ones together.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR HONEYMOON PLANS: We spent two weeks eating our way through Europe in Paris, Venice, Dubrovnik, and Rome.

WHAT DOES LIFE LOOK LIKE AFTER THE WEDDING? Geoff and I live in Minneapolis with our dog Tucker.

IS THERE ANY ADVICE YOU'D GIVE TO OTHERS PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Ask for help. I typically like to do things myself, but when it comes to wedding planning, there are so many important details. The more people you can enlist to help execute your vision the better!
