Devin and Jake’s wedding in Madison perfectly blended style and sentiment. Their refined color palette, elegant venue, and thoughtfully curated details reflected their personalities, while meaningful family moments, personalized décor, and unique traditions created a day full of love, joy, and lasting memories.
Devin and Jake met through mutual friends while in college in Milwaukee. After nearly a decade of dating, Jake proposed on New Year’s Eve in 2022. With both of their families present, he popped the question during a romantic ice skating outing at The Edgewater.
Artistically inclined and a former photographer and art student, Devin knew the small details mattered. The couple set out to plan a wedding day full of sentimental details, authentic moments, and surrounded by their cherished friends and family.

Their color palette was refined: black, white, and red accents. Devin wrote, “I wanted everything to be sleek and timeless so when I look back at pictures, in 10, 20, or 50 years, it doesn’t look dated.” She wore two dresses throughout the day, beginning with an elegant gown from Vera’s House of Bridals. The A-line silhouette was simple and clean, with a square neckline, thin shoulder straps, and a flowing train. Accessories included an oversized bow on the back of the dress, a layered pearl necklace, and a long tulle veil with pearl detailing.
Lilly’s Bridal Hair and Makeup captured Devin’s personality with glowing makeup, including curled lashes, a natural, shimmering lip, and an elegant, yet edgy, cat-eye liner. They curled her hair into luscious, Hollywood waves that felt both vintage and modern, for a timeless appeal.

Family and connection were also at the forefront of Devin & Jake’s big day. They reflected, “Jake comes from a diverse cultural background, and we both have large families. It was such an honor to have everyone we cared about in one place to celebrate us.”
Their choice of venue, The Legend at Bergamont, was a great place to start. The upscale golf course venue offered beautiful views, in-house catering, and a convenient location, making it easy for travel and accommodations. Wedding coordinator, DB Wedding Planning & Coordinating LLC, was available every step of the way, helping the couple communicate with vendors and ensuring their day ran smoothly, exactly as Devin and Jake envisioned it.

Jake and his groomsmen wore suits from Dubois Formalwear, whom they connected with at our January WedPlan show. The groomsmen wore black suits with black vests, white undershirts, polished black shoes, and monochromatic, patterned ties. They accented their looks with black satin pocket squares that matched the detailing on their lapels.
Jake’s fashion differentiated slightly from that of his groomsmen. He wore a luxurious, jacquard velvet suit jacket with a satin lapel, a white pocket square, and a black bow tie. Jake’s mother also gifted him with custom cufflinks with pictures of his important family members who have passed away.

Additionally, florist Robin from The Cosmic Gardens (Devin’s beloved high school art teacher!) created boutonnieres for the groom and groomsmen featuring small red and white roses, baby’s breath, and greenery. Bridal bouquets and décor matched the boutonnieres, while also including white hydrangeas, eucalyptus leaves, and snapdragons.

The couple exchanged vows in an indoor ceremony framed by arched windows and beautiful florals sitting atop custom-made pedestals. As a tribute to her father, who passed away when she was only four, Devin wore her grandmother’s ring in addition to her bridal set. Her father had ensured Devin received the family heirloom on her high school graduation day, and wearing it was a beautiful way to remember and honor his memory.

The couple found their perfect photographer in xoMe Studio, a “documentary meets editorial” photographer based in Door County, Wisconsin. xoMe Studio focuses on small moments of wonder and connection, which shone through Devin & Jake’s portraits from start to finish.

Special moments continued at the reception. Devin’s youngest sister sang the couple’s first dance song, while Devin’s other sister recorded it on a vintage camcorder, creating a moment that Devin and Jake will never forget.
After enjoying a delicious dinner, guests were treated to the couple’s favorite treat–apple pies from Ski Hi Fruit Farm. During their relationship, Devin and Jake enjoyed many apple-picking dates, so it felt only natural to share their tradition with guests at their November wedding.

The night concluded with celebration, music, and dancing. Jake reunited with former coworkers at David Charles Productions, who he once DJ’ed with in college. Devin debuted her second bridal look, a short, long-sleeve dress with pearl and beading details. When the party was over, guests took home handmade German Schaum Tortes as favors, in honor of Jake’s grandfather.

Planning your own wedding? Devin advises, “Don’t be afraid to do what you want, even though it may go outside of tradition. We had uneven bridal parties, walked down the aisle to our favorite songs. Make your day a display of you and your partner’s personalities. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want.”
