BLUSH EDGEWATER WEDDING WITH THE PRETTIEST GARDEN ROSES | KATIE + ALEX

This Edgewater celebration is a beautiful blend of vintage and modern. From the soft, romantic color palette of blush and peach, insanely beautiful garden blooms installed on a copper ceremony arch crafted by Pages & Petals, to the gorgeous cake by Craig’s Cake Shop, this affair is a true mix of all things pretty with a dash of whimsy. And can we talk about those incredibly unique floral quilting embroidery hoops that the bride and her maids carried in lieu of bouquets? This might have just become our new favorite wedding trend. See all the pretties right here, captured by Madison wedding photographer, Tim Fitch Photography.

WEDDING DATE:  07/14/2018

HOW DID YOU MEET?  We went our Junior year of college at one of our favorite bars.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: We went to Wautoma to Alex’s grandparent‘s cottage for Thanksgiving. Right before dinner, Alex wanted to make a toast to the family before we all sat down to eat. He was rambling on and on and suddenly, he got down on one knee, in front of his whole family and proposed. Moments later, I heard my mom from behind me say, “Hi Katie” I turned around and my mom, dad and brother were standing there. I couldn’t have asked for a better surprise!

TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR DRESS: I went to Vera’s Bridal, with my mom, mother in law, and one of my bridesmaids. It was the second dress I tried and I fell in love immediately. I knew it was the one!

WERE THERE ANY PERSONAL TOUCHES OR DIY ELEMENTS? We made the reception seating charts out of wooden quilting hoops. We fastened fishing line to the hoops to make vertical columns to place all of the names, which we had printed and cut out. From there, the florists attached the names, added the flowers and hung them at the location of the cocktail hour.

We loved the circle bouquets and wanted to keep with the theme, so when we saw the quilting hoops on BHLD,  we decided to make them.

All of the table decorations and centerpieces were set up before the ceremony with the help of our families, some of the vases were reused from my sister’s wedding.

Our invites were simple, beige background, with black writing. I found a font and a template that I liked and my Maid of Honor designed them in Adobe Illustrator. My mom and I then tied a bow out of blush pink ribbon around each invite. They turned out awesome!

DID YOU USE ANY SPECIALTY TABLES, CHAIRS, LINENS OR DINNERWARE? We used the chairs and linens that the venue had as well as dinnerware. For centerpieces, we used different height votives with floating blush candles and then smaller gold candle holders and greenery.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR HONEYMOON PLANS: We plan on taking a honeymoon in January, the destination is TBD. But right after the wedding we took the week off and went to Madeline Island for a couple days and spent the rest of the time in Manitowish Waters at my parent‘s lake house with our dog Dean.

WHAT DOES LIFE LOOK LIKE AFTER THE WEDDING?  So far it has been great! We plan to hopefully buy a home in Madison next summer.

IS THERE ANY ADVICE YOU’D GIVE TO OTHERS PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Don’t let the little details become big issues. There will be a hiccup or two on your big day, just be ready to laugh it off! Most importantly, always have your partners back through the planning process, because there can be a lot of outside opinions. As long as you’re both on the same page, that’s all that matters.

ANY WEDDING PLANNING REGRETS YOU’D DO DIFFERENTLY? Honestly, no. It was perfect.
