After finishing her Master's program in the summer of 2020, Annie moved to Seattle for a fresh start and new opportunities. A year later, Jayme made the move to Seattle from Ontario and turned to dating apps to make connections in his new city. Annie was his first match, and the couple braved a snowstorm to meet at a little cafe, which somehow remained open while the rest of the city seemed to shut down.
They sat outside, watching the snowflakes fall, and talked for over three hours despite the cold. However, while the chemistry was immediate, the timing was not quite right (yet!). After a few dates, Annie and Jayme decided to focus on their lives and careers, while still leaving the door open to reconnect later down the road.
Fate brought them back together in the summer of 2022. Jayme was preparing for a move to Austin, Texas, spending the day adventuring with friends. He took a detour on the way back to the city, ending up at Madrona Beach, just a few feet away from where Annie happened to be lounging on the beach after her hiking plans changed.
When she stood up to leave, Annie noticed Jayme, and they went on their "second first date" the next night. A year later, Jayme proposed while the couple was camping in the San Juan Islands. They hiked to a bluff to watch seals swimming, and he popped the question, while a photographer disguised as a birdwatcher captured the moment!
Since Annie & Jayme were planning a wedding from out of state, they knew DIY would be difficult. They prioritized finding their dream vendor team to help every step of the way, creating a wedding that was classic, sophisticated, colorful, and modern. Signature Events played a significant role in shaping the wedding's vibe, providing both rentals and stunning, colorful bouquets and floral installations.
Reflecting on the day, Annie wrote, "Gerry from Signature Events knocked it out of the park. When she brought in the bouquets while we were getting ready, I just kept saying, "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh!"'
Annie wore a simple, elegant strapless dress from Bue Sky Bridal. The sheath silhouette was detailed with delicate embroidery on the bodice, a flowing train, and accessorized by a tulle veil, flower drop earrings, and a classic pearl bracelet. Jennifer Janssen Hair & Makeup styled Annie with soft, natural makeup and a neat, low-bun updo.
While the bouquets featured pops of many colors, the wedding palette was otherwise simple, with the bridesmaids wearing light blue and Jayme and his groomsmen wearing black tuxedos with white undershirts and black bow ties.
With m
ultiple event spaces to choose from and guest accommodations, The Edgewater was the perfect place to host Annie & Jayme's wedding, especially since many guests were traveling for the occasion. The Edgewater also provided a delicious dinner and bar service for the couple and their guests.
A close friend from Seattle officiated the wedding, and the couple agrees that she did a beautiful job telling their story. Since both Annie & Jamie met in a city far from where they grew up, it was an opportunity to share the love and connection with loved ones near and far.
Sarah Rose Creative photographed the day, preserving all of the love in posed and candid shots. Annie & Jayme were able to sneak away for beautiful portraits surrounded by the beauty of Madison and Lake Mendota, as a sweet callback to their second chance and scenic proposal.
When asked to share advice for couples currently in the wedding planning process, Annie & Jayme both chimed in:
Jayme: "The money and time you spend on your wedding is worth it a thousand times over. It was the best day of our lives."
Annie: "Ladies, don't be so stressed about how you look leading up to it. You'll be smiling and floating the entire day, you won't worry if a hair is out of place."
