A Love Letter to Madison: Hometown Wedding Inspiration

When it came to their WedPlan Winter Show scape, OSO IN LOVE found inspiration right at home. In honor of Wisconsin’s many lakes, as well as Madison’s Lake Mendota, they created a color palette of greens and blues, bookended by black and white. The Love Letter to Madison also included mid-century modern details and nods to the state’s iconic Architect, Frank Lloyd Wright.

A lit marquee from Daydream Design Co. set the tone for the design, leading to the vibrant tablescape. Texture played a role in every scene, beginning with a cobalt velvet tablecloth and light blue, velvet linens. Plating included natural walnut chargers and hand-painted marine wave dinnerware. Other design elements included a two-tone Macrame chandelier, tinted crystal glassware, candles, a robust floral centerpiece, custom menus, name cards, a table number, and sticker favors from Tokens of Art.

Modern wishbone chairs from Event Essentials rounded out the tablescape.

Clean lines and modern typefaces defined stationery and signage pieces from The Bride’s Secretary. In addition to the pieces at the tablescape, she also provided a full stationery suite, a printed linen welcome sign, and a thank-you sign with an illustration of downtown Madison.

Along with Event Essentials, Velvet Rentals also provided rental pieces for the scape. Their blue Loren Armchairs and Audrey Coffee Table were fixtures in the lounge, while their wavy full-length mirror provided photo opportunities to passersby.

Signature Events provided organic floral arrangements that highlighted Wisconsin’s native flora, including calla lilies, anthurium, carnations, Queen Anne’s lace, white veronica, and ample foliage and greenery. Compositions ranged from minimalist to grand, asymmetrical, prairie-inspired, most notably at the ceremony.

The bridal fashion in this design featured a trendy, structured basque waist gown from Vera’s House of Bridals. The bodice had a subtle scoop, with exposed boning accentuating the waist, before draping gracefully into a full skirt. The dress also included optional shoulder ties and was accessorized by a pearl-beaded, tulle skinny scarf.

Provided by Dubois Formalwear, the groom’s suit was navy with a silky black lapel and a white, buttoned undershirt. A bow tie, pocket square, and a floral boutonniere completed the look.

Final elements of the ceremony included a white draped backdrop from Daydream Design, a rug, and rows of natural wood seating.

Sandy Kakes delivered a three-color, four-tier wedding cake, frosted with a wavy, blue ombre transitioning from dark to light. The cake sat atop an elevated dessert table, draped in a Madison isthmus tablecloth, as a final nod to local love.
