It all started back in 1999 in Mrs. Alllie's first-grade class. Evan vividly remembers Michelle running up to him on the playground, telling him a joke, then turning right back around and running out of his life for several years. Despite stretches of time and circumstances that often left them separated, these two always ended up reconnecting and eventually began their official dating relationship. Fast forward to a life in New York, that New York apartment building burning down, living with family in Illinois, all the way to a proposal back at Michelle's alma mater, UW-Stout, the two finally celebrated their love story by tying the knot on a beautiful August day in Baraboo, Wisconsin.
Everything about Michelle and Evan's wedding screamed Michelle and Evan. This fun-loving couple incorporated many intentional and personalized details into their celebration, like custom stir sticks, outdoor games and decor elements created by family, a generations of love board, having their guests write them a letter for the anniversary that corresponded with their table number, late-night pizza, choreographed dances, playing the "Thunderstruck" drinking game on the dance floor twice lead by MIdwest Sound DJ Entertainment, and so much more. One crucial detail for Michelle was a bespoke wedding gown and veil from Mara Marie Bridal. Michelle worked closely with the designer all the way in London to craft the dress of her dreams. Michelle's showstopping veil included lace from her mother's wedding dress, and their names and wedding date were beautifully hand-embroidered into the design.
The two were excited to find their ideal venue at Vennebu Hill, which offered multiple spaces for guests to move around and celebrate in. Their monochromatic wedding floral dreams came to life with Signature Events' stunning arrangements of baby's breath, Playa Blanca roses, and more, including a breathtaking hanging installation over the reception's King's Table. From signature drinks to the prettiest-in-pink mismatched bridesmaid dresses, a cocktail hour band, reception dress change, and beyond - let's hear it for the Hughes'!
